Our Principles
Violeta is a Wildflower School and was founded by working with scientists at the MIT Media Lab and there, the 9 Principles for micro-Montessori Schools were developed & distilled. The wildflower schools are learning environments that blur the boundaries between homeschooling and institutional schooling, between scientists and teachers, and between schools and the neighborhoods around them. At the core of Violeta are these 9 principles that define the approach and unite all of our schools.

Montessori
We offer an authentic Montessori environment that is peaceful, beautiful, multi-age, and child-centered. Our teachers are highly qualified to offer the highest standards of Montessori Education.

Teacher-Led
Our school is small and is led by the teachers who directly work with all our children. This ensures that all decisions are made with the benefit and the happiness of the child in mind as a priority.

Community
Our neighborhood-nested school is committed to working in partnership with the surrounding community to create an environment that is healthier for children

Equity
We are working to create a diverse, inclusive learning environment that works for justice as the foundation of peace. Ask about the Birth to Third Partnership program and Scholarships through Violeta!

Beauty
We cultivate a deep sense of beauty in everything we do, in the design, culture, and artistic expression within our school environment; in our interaction with one another; and in our relationship with ourselves!

Innovation
Behind the scenes, a Wildflower Foundation team creates innovative tools that support us to administer our schools, ranging from admissions software to a library of wisdom shared amongst all Wildflower teachers.

Nature
We emphasize the non-separation between nature and human nature! At Violeta, we cultivate each child’s direct relationship with the natural world, by both going out into the nature and bringing abundant plant life into our space!

Home
Our work is a partnership with parents and families: we value their wisdom, invite their engagement, and share with them our Montessori method. Similarly, parents see their roles as active supporters of our school and teacher-leaders.

Network
The Wildflower Network is advancing an ecosystem of independent Schools that mutually support one another, and share their approaches openly for the benefit of all children!
